Simona Vojtěšková

Hi, I’m Simona — a Czech visual artist.

I create vibrant abstract paintings filled with organic shapes, layered textures, repeating patterns, and a generous dose of pink. My work plays with contrasts: playful childhood memories expressed through ladybugs and polka dots are set against darker, more mysterious corners.

I love experimenting with color combinations, imagined plant forms, and delicate detail within abstract, nature-inspired sceneries. If you look closely, you’ll find intentionally “unfinished” areas — places where something was once started and deliberately left behind. These imperfect moments are balanced by hours of careful, obsessive detail work.

Nature’s colors and their endless variations deeply inspire me. My creative process begins with a loose idea, but once I face the blank canvas, I let myself get completely absorbed in a flow of intuition and emotion. I paint as quickly as my thoughts arrive, and slow down gradually to focus on the final layers and finishing touches. For me, the process is far more fulfilling than the result — the painting feels complete only when I reach a personal peak of inner satisfaction.

I work on one painting at a time. Each piece becomes an obsession — I think about it during the day and dream about it at night. I don’t like switching rhythms between artworks, so I always finish one before beginning the next. Still, my paintings remain connected: each new canvas carries a trace of something that fascinated me in the previous one, combined with discoveries made during the journey.

I've been drawn to art all my life. After graduating in Political Science from Masaryk University in 2012, I spent several years in the creative world of marketing and PR. I eventually dove into serious art-making alongside my husband, architect Jiří Vojtěšek. Together, we began creating minimalist concrete wall art under the brand name Litone — a fusion of linocut and concrete.

From watercolors, I gradually moved to acrylics, which is now my primary medium. My paintings blend emotional abstraction and intuitive floral forms, inspired by wild meadows, bold colors, and the joy of spontaneous creation.

I work in my private studio in Velké Pavlovice, in the South Moravia region of the Czech Republic, where I live with my husband and our two children.

On May 23, 2025, we opened SENO Atelier — an exhibition space located in Velké Pavlovice, where you can see my paintings in person and, occasionally, exhibitions by other artists. For more information, visit www.senoatelier.cz.
