Throughout February, you can see my painting Tulip Field up close at Café POLE in Brno. And not just my painting – I’m exhibiting there alongside several other female artists from the Czech Republic and abroad.
Me and the exhibited painting Tulip Field, 100 x 100 cm.
The group exhibition of female artists is organized by the platform Art Mums United, which focuses on women and mothers in the arts. The exhibition features mainly abstract canvas paintings (for example, by Laura Hanganu, Yvonne Vácha-Mané, Valentine Svihalek, Mona Lerch), but you’ll also find photography there – including works by photographer Hana Němečková.
The exhibition opening took place on February 1, 2022.
As part of the opening, there was also an opportunity to connect and get to know the other exhibiting female artists.
Tip for Architecture Lovers
I was especially happy about the location of the exhibition. We actually live nearby, and Café POLE is one of my favorite places. If you’ve never been, it’s definitely worth a visit! You’ll find this retro café across from the entrance to Brno’s Children’s Hospital at Durďákova 1786/5.
The café is in a rather complex space inside a building that was designed in the 1960s by architect Zdeněk Řihák as the Research Institute of Mathematical Machines. Besides the striking central staircase, you’ll definitely be drawn to the sculptural concrete wall, created by artist Eva Kmentová.
This large, textured wall features white and gold spheres that are said to represent the computer technology of the time. For more info: BAM – Brno Architectural Manual.
